Praise and Prayer...
  • Praise the Lord for a great start to the Bible School. Praise Him for the arrival of the largest single class of students to date.
  • Pray for each student as they begin their intensive study of God’s Word.
  • Pray for us as we travel to the States for Andris’ sister’s wedding. Pray especially for Beni on the 9 hour flight there and back.
  • Pray for Beni’s future sibling, for a smooth pregnancy, and for Angie – for strength to keep up with Beni as her energy is drained.

How to get involved...
Through prayer: An effective ministry is dependant upon fervent prayer! If you would like to receive our quarterly updates by mail and/or email, either click here to sign up or contact us by e-mail.
Through finances: Financial support can be sent to the Mission Board address in the footer below made payable to Word of Life Fellowship and including "Bartos Support" in the memo section. Online donations can be made by visiting www.wol.org/giving. Under "Optional Information" please specify your donation to "Bartos Support".
Through action: For some hands-on experience and a closer look at the ministry, consider planning a short-term ministry trip. We need conversational language instructors for summer camp, work teams to help with renovation projects, and sports coaches. Come alone or organize a group from your local church.

The New Class
The Opening Weekend of the Bible School began on September 14. That Friday saw 39 new students arrive to join the second year class at the Word of Life Bible School here in Tóalmás. As part of the admissions staff, Andris had the privilege of meeting each student as they arrived to register. The students include individuals from 10 different countries. Other than Hungary, students have arrived from Romania, Slovakia, Germany, Poland, Albania, Brazil, Uganda, Canada, and the United States. Andris is getting to know most of them even better as he takes each non-Hungarian to the immigration office to begin the process of obtaining a staying permit. We look forward to having each one as guests in our home over time.

This year the first year class includes 3 couples who arrived with their children. Two of the families are from America and both have teenage kids. Each of those families is renting a house in the village. The third couple is from Romania. They have a 4-year old daughter and they have accommodation in the castle. They are three precious families and make a great addition to the student body!
Please pray for the two students from Uganda. These gentlemen were only issued 90-day visas. They will need to return to Uganda at the end of the first quarter of school to apply for another visa. They were aware of this before they came, but they were glad even to come for the first quarter of school. It is very difficult for our African students to obtain visas at all. We are in the process of getting together the documentation for the new visa requests. Please pray that everything will go smoothly, and that this time they will be granted visas for the entire two years of school.
We are excited about this new year of school. The first year class is the biggest single class the Bible School has seen. We thank you for your partnership in ministry as you support us through your prayers and finances. Your investment, whether time in prayer or material giving, is producing faithful servants of the Lord. Thank you and may God bless you for your sacrifice!

Family Life
Our sweet Benjamin will be a year and a half old in November. It’s amazing to see him growing and learning and developing every day. We do our best to stick to our ‘rule’ that Andris speaks with him in Hungarian and Angie in English. Beni’s very limited vocabulary consists of English and Hungarian, but mostly unintelligible words. His favorite is Apa (Daddy), and when he hears Andris opening the front door when he arrives home, Beni goes running to the door, screaming it at the top of his lungs.
Beni has some exciting news he wanted to share with everyone. He will be welcoming a brother or sister into this world come Spring. Yes… we are 3 months pregnant and eagerly anticipating the arrival of this new precious life. Please pray that all will go smoothly.
Andris’ sister, Eszter, has been studying in the States for a few years, and in that time she has met the man of her dreams. They will be married in October, so we will be making a whirlwind visit to celebrate with them. We will, of course, take the opportunity to spend time with Angie’s family as well. Please pray for us in our travels, especially for the 9-hour flight over and back. When we traveled on furlough a year ago, Beni was an angel, but he also was not walking, or even crawling… he was basically unaware that we were not sitting in our living room sipping tea. Now he is walking and running and can’t sit still for two minutes, so we are rather dreading the flight, but looking forward to time with family and friends.
