Praise and Prayer...
  • Pray for all of the summer camp preparations going on from now until mid-June.
  • Pray for the summer camp staff training in May. Pray that God would supply enough volunteers to keep camp running smoothly this summer, and especially for enough male counselors.
  • Praise the Lord that our Ugandan students, David and Arthur, were granted visas to return and finish their Bible School studies.
  • Pray for Andris as he continues to face the challenges of obtaining visas and residency permits for the foreign students in a land where laws are changing faster than undergarments.
  • Pray that God will raise up more churches and individuals to financially support us in this ministry.
  • Pray for the safe arrival of the newest member of the Bartos family in April.
  • Praise the Lord for the great opportunity Angie has had over the past few months to study the life of the apostle John with some of the ladies on our staff.

How to get involved...
Through prayer: An effective ministry is dependant upon fervent prayer! If you would like to receive our quarterly updates by mail and/or email, either click here to sign up or contact us by e-mail.
Through finances: Financial support can be sent to the Mission Board address in the footer below made payable to Word of Life Fellowship and including "Bartos Support" in the memo section. Online donations can be made by visiting www.wol.org/giving. Under "Optional Information" please specify your donation to "Bartos Support".
Through action: For some hands-on experience and a closer look at the ministry, consider planning a short-term ministry trip. We need conversational language instructors for summer camp, work teams to help with renovation projects, and sports coaches. Come alone or organize a group from your local church.

Preparing for Summer Camp
As camp season draws near, the list of things-to-do seems to multiply exponentially. This year we printed 10,000 camp brochures. Half of them had to be stuffed into envelopes, labeled, and stamped by hand before they could be mailed. Our entire camp staff (i.e. Laci and Andris) learned to appreciate the manual labor. We hope that our efforts will be fruitful and that we can welcome at least 1,000 campers here this summer.
In the first week of May we hold a training conference for our summer volunteer staff. It is a continuous struggle and prayer request to have enough godly, devoted young people to minister with us towards the campers during the summer. There is specifically a great need for mature, committed men to serve as camp counselors. This is the time of year when we see the reality of Christ’s words recorded in Matthew 9:37-38, “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Would you join us in doing just that… praying for more workers for this ripe harvest field this summer?

Bible School Challenges
Andris is facing newer and newer challenges as the current Hungarian immigration process is constantly being reshaped to meet the various EU standards. It involves him reading up on and interpreting new laws and regulations while at the same time dealing with the old post-communist style bureaucratic, immigration officers as he helps the foreign students through the impossible process of getting residency permits and visas. (Sometimes it seems the biggest challenge is to maintain a good testimony and relationship with these officers.) But Andris is glad to help the students through this frustrating process.
Thank you to all who have been praying for our request back in the fall. Against all odds and at the worst possible time politically, David and Arthur, our fine, young Ugandan students, were granted visas to return and finish their Bible school studies. The why and the how are unclear, but one thing is sure: GOD IS IN CONTROL!

Our Support Status
One of the less-fun, but necessary duties of serving on the mission field is raising financial support. We need support not only for living expenses and health insurance, but also just to keep the actual ministry running. Our family needs to have a minimum of $4,600 coming in a month to make this ministry a reality. Several churches and many individual families give generously and sacrificially every month to keep us serving here, and we are thankful for each one! We currently lack $600 in monthly support, which we need to raise in order to remain on the field past 2008. (And $100/month of that should be raised over the next month.) We are always amazed at God’s faithful provision and trust that He will continue to provide for all of our personal and ministry needs. Please pray that God would raise up more families and congregations to partner with us in this ministry. If you are interested in becoming a regular supporter, please let us know at bartosfamily@eletszava.org.

Bartos Baby Countdown
Within the next two weeks, the newest member of the Bartos family should be snuggling in our arms. Our doctor tells us that we are expecting a girl, so although we hope she is right, as Andris says, we’ll take ‘em home either way. ☺ We will send out an e-mail once she arrives. If you are not on our e-mail mailing list, now is the time to sign up! Either send us an e-mail at bartosfamily@eletszava.org or sign up under the contact us section of our website. Thank you to all who have been praying… the pregnancy has gone smoothly and we pray that the delivery will as well.

His Beloved Disciples
What a blessing it has been for Angie to study the life and ministry of the apostle John with some of the women that we serve with here in Hungary. One of our supporting churches supplied us with the Beth Moore video series “Beloved Disciple” and even purchased workbooks for us. A small group of us have been meeting every Thursday night and growing together. John has been teaching us, among other things, the importance of truly loving our Savior and loving others. Furthermore, he has opened our eyes to the many ways Christ shows His love for us, so that we feel, as he did, like The Disciple Jesus Loved.
