Praise and Prayer

  1. Praise the Lord for a great start to Summer Camp and pray that He would continue to bless through the rest of the season.
  2. Pray for each camper who has made a life-changing decision at camp. Pray that they will continue to grow in their relationship with Christ.
  3. Pray for Andris as he runs the camp program. Pray for the rest of the staff and for the volunteers: the counselors and helpers without whom the camp could not run.
  4. Praise the Lord that our house is coming along so well! Pray for the remainder of the process.
Psalm 5:3

Summer Camp...

Andris teachingThe summer camp season is in full swing, and the property is bursting with campers! As I write, the camp is filled to capacity, and we praise God for it!

Each week there is a different Bible teacher, usually the pastor of a local church, who comes to teach the morning Bible Hour. This past week, for the first time, Andris was the Bible teacher for camp. Andris was amazed every day with how much information the campers retained as they got involved and answered questions. Laci Kádár has been presenting the gospel message in the evening meetings. Hundreds of campers have come forward to accept Christ as their savior. After the gospel presentation, it is overwhelming to see a room scattered with small groups of campers A student counseling campers meeting with their counselors to make sure they understand the decision they are making and talk about how to grow in their relationship with Christ.

Angie has been translating for the foreigners in the evening meetings. Our meetings are run in Hungarian, but for the many non-Hungarian volunteers who come to teach English or coach sports, we have simultaneous translation through short-wave radio. It has been a fun way for Angie to get involved in the camp. She continues her IT duties and is working on a new website for the ministry which should be completed in late summer.

Please continue to pray for the rest of the summer camp season. Pray for strength, creativity, and wisdom for Andris as he directs the camp program. Pray for the rest of the staff, for the Hungarian young people Andris leading a game who volunteer their time to serve as counselors and helpers for the camp. But most of all, pray for the campers... that they would truly experience God's love in this place, and that they would come to a saving knowledge of Christ.

Home, Sweet Home

We are only 10 weeks into building and the house is looking great! The roof tiles were completed this past week and the electricity will be hooked up next week. It is so exciting to watch it progress. The contractor plans to be done with his part by early September. We will put in the flooring and paint ourselves. We have an acquaintance who we are hiring to do the tile work, and we Our Future Home will install the kitchen ourselves, too. We are hoping to be in the house by late September.

We have made friends with our new neighbors. They are sweet and have been very helpful throughout the building process, even supplying water and electricity, in addition to allowing the workers to store tools in their shed at night. Once we have moved in, they would like to send their two daughters to Angie for English language tutoring.

We are doing our best to keep up-to-date pictures posted on our website at www.andrisangie.com. We covet your prayers for the remainder of the process. Two years ago we stood on the property with a small group from our home church in Pennsylvania, and together we prayed that God would allow us to build a home and family on that property to God's glory. It is so exciting to see the beginnings of that prayer request being granted!
